Bishop Stephen posts his first video message to the priest and people of the diocese during these days of the Covid-19 pandemic, calling for us to stand together in the challenges that face us.
He offers prayers and a blessing for all those who are working in the front line services and those in the primary care centres.
The Bishop calls on everyone to draw even closer to Christ. We should renew our faith, deepen our prayer and renew ourselves during this season of Lent. Particularly in this Lent, we are living out the Paschal Mystery of Jesus in our own lives even more acutely than we normally do.
While there are no public Masses, Bishop Stephen encourages us to connect to the various streamed Masses from our own parishes or from the Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN).
We are a people of hope – not demurred by the demand of our daily lives. Despite the adversity that we suffer, and our feeling of remoteness, we unite ourselves with sick brothers and sisters who are confined to the house, in our own homes: our families; our children; the housebound; our elderly; those in hospital; those in care homes and all who care for them.
