The priests, deacons and people of the Diocese of Dunkeld came together on Monday evening in St Andrew’s Cathedral, Dundee for the annual Diocesan Vocations Mass. A large number of senior pupils from the three Catholic secondary schools within the diocese were present at the Mass celebrated by Bishop Stephen Robson, along with some pupils and teachers from the various primary schools.
In his homily, Fr Michael Carrie, the Diocesan Director of Priestly Vocations invited the congregation to reflect on the many priests they have encountered in their lives, and the ways in which those priests have helped them. He encouraged them to cultivate a culture of vocations and not be afriad to talk about vocations and priesthood in a positive way, by praying for; promoting and supporting vocations. He concluded his homily by reminding the congregation of the words of St John Vianney, patron saint of priests, “The priest is not a priest for himself, he is a priest for you”, so all of us should play an important role in encouraging and praying for vocations to the priesthood.
