Parishioners and their priests from throughout the diocese gathered at St Andrew’s Cathedral, Dundee, on Thursday 24th August 2023, for a Mass of Thanksgiving for the Episcopal Ministry of Bishop Stephen Robson.
The Mass to mark the retirement of Bishop Stephen Robson, held in the Cathedral on Thursday past, was an occasion of grace for all who attended; people come from across the parishes of our diocese, and many of our diocesan priests gathered to concelebrate with the Bishop, along with Father Paul Capaldi, a former classmate of Bishop Stephen and a regular visitor to our parishes.
The Diocesan Choir was in great voice, singing parts of Fr Turner’s Mass of St Cecilia, on old favourite of the Cathedral choral repertoire, with Mary Veal conducting and Kevin Veal at the organ. Grateful thanks to the Choir and to Mary and Kevin for their preparation and hard work.
Thanks too to Tom and Gigio and to all the altar servers; to those who welcomed us at the Church door, and to all who provided the hospitality afterwards, those who donated food, and those who prepared the hall and tidied up afterwards, all giving so generously of time and talent to do so. The Bishop thoroughly enjoyed the celebration, and will of course be helping out in our parishes in the future.
