On Saturday 5th September parishioners from St Columba’s, Cupar, including their Parish Priest Canon Pat McInally completed the 111km walk along the ancient pilgrim way of St James (known as the ‘Camino’) following the French Route from Sarria to Santiago de Compostela. The attached picture shows the group arriving in good spirits at the the entrance to the Cathedral Square in Santiago.
On Sunday 6th September the group joined with many hundreds of other pilgrims from across the globe for the celebration of the daily Pilgrim Mass which takes place at 12 noon in the magnificent Santiago Cathedral and concludes with the swinging of the famous ‘Botofumeiro’.
Says Canon McInally, “The ‘Camino Walk’ was a wonderful experience for all who took part, and had a profound effect on our young people who have asked if they can do it again”.
