Deacon Charles Hendry dies after a short illness

On July 4th, 2024, Deacon Charles Hendry passed away peacefully, after a short illness, bravely borne, in the loving care of his family, loving husband of Shona, devoted father of Sarah, Rachel, Ruth, Katherine and James, a loving father-in-law, grandad, brother, brother- in-law, uncle, deacon and friend. He was fortified by the Rites of the Holy Mother Church.

Reception of Remains, on Thursday, July 18, at 5pm., followed by funeral mass, in St Peter and St Paul’s R.C. Church, Byron Street, on Friday, July 19, at 12 noon, and thereafter to Balgay Cemetery at 1.30 p.m., to which all family and friends are most welcome.

No flowers, please, donations, if desired, may be given at the church, in aid of SCIAF.

The National Director of the Diaconate in Scotland, Deacon Graham Kelly, said, “It is with great sadness that I have learned of the death of our brother Deacon, Charles Hendry of Dunkeld Diocese. Charles was ordained in 2002 and was a hardworking and faithful servant of the Church. We send our deepest condolences to his wife Shona and to his children and grandchildren . May he rest in peace and rise in glory.
