The family and friends and the priests and people of the Diocese of Dunkeld mourn the death of Fr James McCruden who died in the early evening of Sunday, 30th December, the feast of the Holy Family. RIP.
Father Jim was Parish Priest of St Joseph’s Callander, St Fillan’s, Doune and Killin and was a much loved and compassionate pastor and friend. Fr Jim was a history graduate of St Andrews University and a former teacher before being ordained priest by Bishop Vincent Logan after studies in the Pontifical Beda College, Rome. Fr Jim was an life-long friend and colleague of Fr James High of St Margaret’s Montrose who cared for him with great compassion and kindness until he died. Fr Jim’s brother Stuart and Fr Jim High were with him when he died.
Many thanks are due to those doctors and nurses who cared for Fr James in both Firth Valley Hospital and from the local surgery in Montrose during his protracted illness.
The funeral arrangements are as follows:
Reception of Fr Jim’s remains in the St Fillan’s Catholic Church in Doune at 7pm on Monday, 14th January 2019.
Requiem Mass in Doune at 12noon on Tuesday 15th January with refreshments following on from the Mass at ‘The Roman Camp’, Callander.
Burial at 11.30am on Wednesday, 16th January, at Careston Churchyard, Brechin, Angus, DD9 6SA
