Perth Catholic Youth Project

The team works closely with the priests in the local parishes and St John’s Academy and maintains links with the diocesan youth team, facilitating communication between parish and diocese as regards youth work. They work within the guidelines the Catholic Church has laid down for the protection of children and will abide by the Church’s teaching in matters of faith and morals and will seek to give a good example of Christian living in the parish.

The leaders also liaise with St John’s Academy in catechetical and other project work, some of which is now part of an established pattern. In addition to the weekly meetings with 11-18 years old, a children’s evangelisation group forms as a Holiday Club for primary school children.

For the first half of the evening there are a variety of activies to choose from, sports, warhammer, art & crafts, music and your journalism – including a magazine and their website www.3gy.org.uk . Then some lovely homemade supper, freshly cooked. The evening ends with a discussion of faith issues, with different focused topics for each term.

In 2012 Frankie McGuire led a group of young pilgrims to Rome and in 2014 the group walked the last stage of the Camino, in Spain, arriving at the Shrine of St James at Santiago de Compostela.
