Although, officially, the Feast of St Patrick is not celebrated when it falls on a Sunday – these young parishioners at St Stephen’s Church, Blairgowrie, found that their parish priest, Fr Gregory Umunna, couldn’t resist the temptation pay his own respects to Ireland’s Patron Saint.
With the major reparations now completed at St Stephen’s, Blairgowrie, parishioners have been opening the church’s doors to welcome visitors eager to see the glory of their restore Edward Pugin building. Ian Kirkwood has created an audio visual presentation highlight the church’s history and documenting the process. The commentary is by Evelyn Hood.
St Stephen’s Church in Blairgowrie has recently undergone a significant restoration programme supported by funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund. This building, somewhat hidden up a side street in the town, is of huge historical significance, having been designed by E W Pugin, a member of the Pugin architectural dynasty, best known for their plans for the Houses of Parliament …
